Frequently asked questions

First ask the person from which you first received your FTP password. In the even you received the password from webstyle, your E-mail address has been stored on our system. Simply write to us from that E-mail address and be sure to include your domain name. We will send you your FTP password as soon as possible. For security reasons, we only send passwords to the E-mail account associated with the domain name in our records.

Data is transferred by means of FTP to your new server. Using an up-to-date FTP-Client you can connect to our server and then load your website into the WWW-folder. In the event you are unable to find this folder you can also load the HTML-Data direct onto the server.

Write to our technicians at provide them with all necessary details, such as, domain name, exact file or data element, as well as the requested date of back-up. More information about our back-up system can be found at Backup + Restore.

Even when your website pages consume only 20% of your allotted memory it is still possible that you will exceed your allotted memory. In most cases the responsible party is one if not multiple E-mail accounts that consume a large volume of memory. Please check to see if you have chosen the option „Leave Mail on Server“, in the event you have, this problem is quickly remedied by changing this setting. Maintain your composure and inform the technical support here at webstyle as quick as possible. We will provide you with new passwords and re-implement the website by means of a previous back-up. If you desire we can also organize a test of your website to narrow the possibility of a reoccurrence. Additionally you should contact your web-developer, that their computers may also be checked for viruses, and to provide them with the new password.

There are two possibilities:

Possibility 1: Your computers access to the internet is being blocked by a firewall. Configure your FTP Client to allow a passive connection (passive Mode / passive Transfer).

Possibility 2: Your network does not allow connections with the outside world. Contact your network administrator and ask if it is possible to open ports 20 and 21,which are necessary for a successful FTP connection.

In the event your domain is based on a Unix server the path for Sendmail is : /usr/sbin/sendmail

Every customer at webstyle has his own web statistics. As defined in your service package, you can find these statistics at urchin.webstyle.ch (Username: yourDomain.ch) or www.yourDomain.ch/stat ( the username is always: stat).
